African Recipes & Belgian Ingredients

Slow Food Metropolitan Brussels in collaboration with The Food Bridge and the Federation of Anglophone Africans Belgium presents the event Africana Flavors 2015 taking place in the frame of 'Week van de Smaak'.

Although the African population has a strong presence in Brussels, very little is known about its food and cuisine. But the opposite is also true - Belgian local produce would need a much better promotion among the Matongé inhabitants. Therefore, we decided to bring those two realities closer and build a bridge between them. Slow Food stand will therefore feature African recipes with Belgian vegetables!

So join us at the Africana Flavors and taste Africa's colourful and delicious cuisine. West African jollof rice, fried plantains, meat pies, fresh Moroccan breads with winter soups, South African wines and São Tomé and Príncipe Robusta Coffee (Slow Food Presidium). 

Besides having a taste of typical dishes, visitors will find cards containing recipes, information about food products, lists of African restaurants and shops, explanations about traditions etc. 

Samples from different dishes can be tasted at very affordable prices. Money collected will be donated to a shelter for abused women.
